Abstract

Аnnotation. This article investigates the literary career of Rakhmetully Suiundikovich Egizbaev, a government official, a World War II veteran, and a member of the Journalists' Union of the USSR. He is the author of collections of poems and essays such as “The Deciding Power” («Шешуші күш» (essays, 1970г.)), “Migration of the Steppe Geese” («Қараша қаздар қайтқанда» (1975г.)), “Steppe Nightingales,” («Дала бұлбұлдары» (1985г.)), and “Looking For You” («Іздедім сені» (1985г.)). The author of the article provides an overview of Egizbaev’s oeuvre and attempts to organize it thematically. Special attention is given to literary analysis of select works. While conducting literary analysis, the researcher seeks to discover the poems’ overall meaning and to contextualize their importance for contemporary audiences. What is more, the author compares the esthetics and literary motifs of Egizbaev’s literary creations with the works of other Kazakh poets, namely Sultanmahmut Toraigyrov and Zhumagali Sain. The article attempts to explore the deep lyricism of Egizbaev’s poetry; the researcher identifies several creative directions in his work but argues that Egizbaev’s oeuvre is nevertheless united by a single identity. Comparative analysis and close reading of Egizbaev’s poetry has revealed the presence of a character “Saulezhan” which serves as the core of the poet’s many creative ideas.
