Abstract

The article examines the historical prerequisites for the formation of a common terminological fund of Turkic languages, its theoretical foundations, and practical approaches to its implementation. The study is based on early 20th-century Turkological research, as well as the materials of the 1924 Congress of Kazakh Scholars in Orenburg and the 1926 Baku Turkological Congress. It analyzes the impact of Soviet language policy on the alphabets, orthography, and terminological systems of Turkic peoples, and identifies the reasons for the delayed development of a common terminological fund. The principles of term formation in Kazakh, Azerbaijani, and other Turkic languages are compared, and the internal and external sources for enriching the common Turkic terminological fund are systematized. In addition, mechanisms for the selection, unification, approval, and standardization of common terms are proposed. The results of the study contribute to the expansion of the shared Turkic scientific space, enhance mutual understanding among related peoples, and support the harmonization of the language of science. The author emphasizes that the success of this process depends on common principles and consistent institutional coordination; therefore, the issue should be addressed systematically and collaboratively at the international level.
