This article discusses the features of the structure of saiga antelope bones, identifies the morphological differences between the studied animals, and uses morphometric research methods. Knowledge of the morphology of the skeletal system of saiga antelopes is crucial for veterinary, sanitary, and forensic examinations of saiga antelope slaughter products, as well as for veterinary students. Knowledge of the topographic anatomy of saigas is also extremely important for a practicing doctor, as it is necessary for successful diagnosis and subsequent treatment. In recent years, state natural reserves have been established in the West Kazakhstan region to preserve the Ural population of saigas.
In the available scientific literature, we did not find any information about the anatomical features of the saiga skeleton, including the Ural population. The relevance of these studies lies in the fact that they are necessary for determining the species affiliation of the animals. To achieve this goal, the following objectives were set: to study the morphological structure of the saiga organism of the Ural population and the morphometric indicators of the saiga skeleton. The significance of this study lies in the fact that it is the first to present data demonstrating the anatomical and morphometric parameters of the bones of the saiga skeleton of the Ural population.
