Abstract. The main elements of the main pipeline safety control are diagnostics, analysis of diagnostic results, calculations of strength and residual life, forecasting, making practical decisions, repair and restoration work, monitoring of technological parameters during operation. All these elements develop in one way or another in different ways: some faster, others with a lag.
In addition, there are different defects in each pipeline. They can be metallurgical (laminations, non-metallic inclusions), construction (dents, irregularities, welding defects) or operational (corrosion, mechanical damage). All these disadvantages are clearly visible during in-line diagnostics.
But the most urgent problem after in-line diagnostics was the correct assessment of the danger of the identified defects and the adoption of well-grounded repair plans. It is important to achieve maximum efficiency here: you cannot ignore really dangerous defects, but it is also impractical to repair safe damage, as this leads to unnecessary costs. Therefore, the scope of repair work must exactly match the nature of the defects and the operating conditions of the pipeline. Thus, for safe and trouble-free pumping of oil on oil pipelines, the safety of pipelines must be predicted by the method of in-line diagnostics. It is important to remember that pipelines, like many other large industrial facilities, can pose a danger to the environment. Therefore, the safety issues of pipeline transport systems remain relevant and require constant analysis and improvement. This article does not aim to finally solve all problems in this area, but an attempt has been made to consider and propose ways to solve some of them.
